We are only just beginning to see the potential benefits of machine learning and advanced analytics: rapid fraud detection, hyper-targeted personalization, predictive analytics for inventory planning and price optimization, breakthroughs in drug discovery and precision medicine. All of it is powered by the massive amounts of data being created every day by people, processes, and IoT devices - and much of that data can be considered “sensitive” or “Personally Identifiable Information (PII)” under various data privacy and industry-specific regulations.
Data platform architects must figure out how to make the organization's data available while still meeting compliance requirements. Attempted solutions usually involve complex ETL or static data masking; however, these solutions don't address the fact that completely removing the sensitive values also removes a lot of the data's utility.
The answer lies with data de-identification, the process by which data values are transformed or obfuscated in order to protect sensitive information while leaving it in a form that is still useful for the business. In this webinar, hosted by Lars George (Principal Solutions Architect for Okera), we'll cover:
About the Speaker
Lars George has been involved with Hadoop, HBase and the Big Data ecosystem since 2007. He has written multiple O'Reilly books, including "HBase - The Definitive Guide". Before Okera, Lars was CTO of a startup, co-founded a Big Data consulting firm, and worked at Cloudera for five years, where, as the EMEA Chief Architect, he helped many fortune 500 companies around the world define their Big Data architectures. He has a Dipl.-Inform. (FH) degree from Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen in Germany.
Okera provides flexibility of choice in query and analytics tools, computing and data modeling frameworks while supporting concurrent workloads and concurrent users in hybrid cloud and multi-data store environments.
Okera allows policy enforcement through fine-grained access control down to the level of a singular cell and scaling to support governance of petabytes of data.
Okera enables you to maintain continuous knowledge of your data and its usage through rich audit trails and data usage statistics.
Okera is the first software provider to enable the management of data access and governance at scale for today’s modern heterogeneous data environments. Okera’s Active Data Access Platform allows agility and governance to co-exist and gives data producers, consumers and stewards the confidence to unlock the power of their data for innovation and growth. This unique, enterprise-wide platform facilitates the provisioning, accessing, governing and auditing of data in today’s multi-cloud, multi-dataformat, and multi-tool world.
