Big data and data sharing helped accelerate the development of vaccines, and telemedicine capabilities enabled doctors to provide vital health services. Businesses could safely continue to provide essential services because millions of workers were able to quickly adapt to work from their homes. E-commerce enabled huge swaths of the retail economy to survive, and even thrive.
Despite these successes, and and especially in light of the SolarWinds cyberattack, the tech industry faces significant and urgent challenges in 2021 related to data management, security and privacy as cloud journeys continue to accelerate, and distributed enterprises and work-from-home business models become the norm.
